Theatre Britain

The logo for Theatre Britain. A square logo. Theatre in blue on the left hand side from bottom to top. Britain in red across the top. Filling ouf the rest of the logo is a stylised version of happy and sad theatre masks. Sad on the left is in blue and is upside down, Happy is on the right in red right way up. They are separated by gold lines and both have white circles for eyes.

It started as one of those “Let’s put on a show!” moments, with four British women sitting around having a cup of tea and saying, “There is no panto in Dallas, let’s put one on.”

Six months later, we were performing at the Plaza Theatre in Carrollton and, during the week, we were touring schools. Barebones scenery, cheap and cheerful costumes and wigs bought from a Halloween store. Our first show, in 1996, was ‘The Sleeping Beauty’, followed by ‘Cinderella’ in 2017.

By the time we went dark at the end of 2017, we were a fixture on the North Texas theatre scene, with full seasons of high-quality productions for a wide range of ages.
